Halloween is a holiday traitionally celebrated at the end of October. Halo-Halo is a traditional Filipino desert consisting of ube ice cream, shave ice, coconut shavings, red bean, and jelly.
Combine the two, and you get... HALO-HALLOWEEN!
Kultura, which means culture in Tagalog, is an event where everyone can experience and learn about different cultures right here on campus. In the venue, there are different stations with activities educating people on cultures such as Chinese, Japanese, Hebrew, African, and many more. In addition to the activities, there are multiple cultural performances scattered throughout the event.
Kamayan in Tagalog means to eat with one's hands. At this event, you’ll learn about the vast different types of Filipino foods and how to expertly eat with your hands! After all the tasty goodies, we announce the new families created through our Ate/Kuya Mentorship Program!
A night filled with laughter and full stomachs. We celebrate the holiday spirit at this event through our gift exchanges, hilarious games, yummy Filipino food, and your best ugly sweater (or any holiday attire!). If you love to cook/bake, you’re more than welcome to share your best dish with us and contribute to this potluck!
SAYAW is PUSO's annual dance competition and showcase, where we bring talented teams from up and down the East Coast to perform and compete with us.
Take classes with our world renowned teachers and choreographers at our morning workshops, and watch the many talented teams from near and far showcase their craft at night.
A collaboration with the Chinese Association of Stony Brook (CASB) where we introduce different foods from Chinese and Filipino culture. Dim Sum is a Chinese cuisine with various small dishes consisting of dumplings, spring rolls, chicken feet, etc.
PUSOfest is PUSO's culminating event in which our dance teams showcase their sets one last time, and the general body members showcase their talents. The succeeding executive board is revealed at this event, sending off the old, and bringing in a new year of PUSO.
The Tagalog word “Salamat” translates to “Thank You” in English. PUSOlamat is an end-of-year semi-formal banquet in which PUSO members come together to celebrate memories and achievements from the past year and commemorate the graduating seniors of the organization. There is food, games, prizes, and a lot of line-dancing!
